Our Mission

Anu Karwa is the founder and CEO of Swirl Events. Anu created Swirl Events to combine her passion for wine and bringing her friends together for memorable evenings. After earning her Advanced Certification from the internationally recognized Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Ð and through her tasting experiences Ð she realized wine did not have to be complicated or stuffy. Thus began her dream of sharing her passion through Swirl. Prior to launching Swirl Events, Anu was a product junkie working as a brand manager in the beauty industry for L'Oreal, John Frieda and most recently, Victoria Secret Beauty (PINK brand). Anu holds a B.S. in Finance & Economics from The Ohio State University and an MBA from Columbia Business School.

David has just begun his journey into the world of wine and loves it more every day. Sharing Swirl's mission (in addition to being Anu's husband), David joined Swirl Events to support strategic planning, operations and finance. David previously worked for Scholastic, where he developed and launched StudyJams!, a new online learning site for kids. He also worked in the company's Business Development group. Prior to coming to Scholastic, David was a Strategy Consultant at McKinsey & Company. Keeping in line with his serial entrepreneurial nature, David is currently starting his own new children's media venture. He holds a bachelor's degree from UNC - Chapel Hill and a J.D. from Harvard Law School. His favorite wine is Casa Lapostolle's Clos Apalta 2004 from Chile that he enjoyed while on his honeymoon with Anu.
